A Taste of Boston
AIGA members were recently sent a sampler DVD of the DESIGN: AIGA Design Conference in Boston. The DVD highlights some of the best moments from the conference, from Michael Bierut warbling the AIGA “Graphical Anthem,” with lyrics he wrote to the tune of “Star-Spangled Banner,’ to Ze Frank’s spot-on “Safety” presentation, guaranteed to make your next in-flight safety instruction a little more interesting. Conference participants found Bill Strickland’s presentation simultaneously humorous, awe-inspiring, moving, challenging, inspirational and ultimately worthy of a standing ovation. Highly recommended viewing.
Inequality Matters poster gallery published online
Inequality of income, limited access to health and education, and underdeveloped markets for trade are trapping much of the world's population in a cycle of poverty. AIGA and the Human Development Report Office of the United Nations Development Programme developed a poster initiative, “Inequality Matters,” in anticipation of the 2005 World Summit last September.
Now more than 70 members have contributed to the Inequality Matters poster campaign. The posters, which are available for download, illustrate how much disparity there is in the world even in the fundamental human condition.
