Motherhood x Design: Women Lead to Launch Wholly Mother Series

Being a woman-identifying designer isn’t always easy, and motherhood is like adding on another full-time job. Maternity leave, work-life balance, finding time for self-care, and connecting with other moms and creatives—these are just a few hurdles you may face. We at AIGA Women Lead see you, and understand the unique challenges you face.

You can find support through local resources, organizations, and connecting with people who are willing to listen and share their stories. We are at our best when we take time to learn from each other and form meaningful, lasting connections.

Wholly Mother Event Series

AIGA Women Lead is proud to present Wholly Mother, a free event series bringing together moms and mom-identifying folks from all different stages of motherhood to connect, learn, and celebrate the whole of motherhood and design in a supportive and safe environment. We hope the series will leave you with a deeper sense of community, equipped with new tools to live a more full life.

The series will kick off with an event inviting families from the Portland design community to discover and engage with family-focused local vendors and each other. Brunch snacks, coffee, and non-caffeinated beverages will be provided along with kid-friendly crafts and activities. This event will be held at Team Studio in SW Portland on Saturday, September 15th from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Join us as validate, encourage, and give one another permission to be real about work, life, and motherhood.

Subsequent events in the Wholly Mother series will offer ideas and conversation around activities for you and your family, finding a healthy work-life balance, taking care of yourself emotionally and physically, time management, professional development, networking, and more.

If you have suggestions for content, resources, activities, or questions we should cover through the Wholly Mother series, we would love to hear them! Please email us at womenlead@portland.aiga.org.
