Recap: dMob dLux 2017

dMobbers rejoice! Our favorite annual event, dMob dLux returned this July. This was the 7th year of putting on our free BYOTee screen printing party. Did you miss out on the action? That sucks, but let’s recap and see what all the excitement was about.

Once again we hit up Rontoms for dMob dLux, ran into some folks who attended our Studio Tour at Oddfellows beforehand, and got our screen printing action on. This year dMobbers got to choose from a killer selection of exclusive artwork provided by local creatives: Jodie Beechem, Emek Studios and Lincoln Design. People lined up to get items like shirts, tank tops, tote bags, and jackets printed. Some missed the BYOTee memo, but that’s okay! As always, we had tees available for purchase just in case.

It’s about community

We are proud to donate the proceeds of our tee shirt sales from this event to The Right Brain Initiative, a nonprofit that helps change the way kids learn in the Portland metro area by bringing discovery, collaboration and creativity into the classroom. Through professional development training, Right Brain teaches K–8 educators to leverage the arts to explore all common core subjects. Right Brain fosters dynamic collaborations between professional artists, arts organizations and classroom teachers in seven regional school districts and 67 schools.

Gratitude

If you don’t already know, AIGA Portland operates through the combined efforts of volunteers here in our creative community. The Board of Directors would like to extend a special thank you to those who help make dMob dLux possible. We wouldn’t be able to do it without you!

  • Andy Portello for organizing and curating the wonderful lineup of dLux artists throughout the years
  • The Make House and Brian Walton for providing screen printing services
  • Heather Golan and Misty Auld for being stellar volunteers of the dMob Committee
  • And lastly, thanks to Rontoms for hosting us again this year!
