Haley Riley is a multidisciplinary designer, with a focus on digital design. Her design journey began as a child growing up in a tiny cornfield town in Indiana. Her first connection with community and identity was through music. She grew up creating fansites and “e-zines” for all of the popstars she idolized before discovering punk in her teenage years. The show fliers, merch designs, and album art she discovered during her youth are still major influences in the work she enjoys making today.
After nearly a decade of working as a hairstylist, she decided to change career direction. She attended Portland State University where she received a BA in Graphic Design in 2020. She still lives in Portland, and spends most of her time hiking, doing yoga, hanging out with her dog (Mabel), and listening to ghost stories.
She is inspired by sustainability, collaboration and community and believes that as a designer she has the responsibility to communicate in an ethical and sustainable way. Using visual communication to build community is important to her. She cherishes that connection and outlet she discovered as a child, and she continues to build on that through her work as an adult.
