Who volunteers for AIGA Portland?

People that design, people that support design, and people that work with designers. Sound like you? Most of our volunteers are print designers, interactive designers, copywriters, photographers, art directors, small business owners, and more.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering is a great way to meet other creatives with similar interests, hone your professional craft, as well as give back to the creative community. Plus, without you, we couldn’t do what we do!

Volunteer Opportunities at AIGA Portland

We have many ways of volunteering:

  1. Day-of Event Volunteer: Offer day-of event help on an as-needed basis. Examples of tasks include: helping with set-up, staffing registration, greeting guests and helping with tear-down.
  2. Design/Photography/Videography Volunteer: Help promote and capture AIGA events on an as-needed basis.
  3. Committee Volunteer: Support a specific task or event. This role is ongoing and requires more of a time commitment. Duties vary by committee. See below for our committees.
  4. Chair: Take charge of a specific task or event. Work closely with a director to put your ideas into action and help lead a committee to get it done. See below for open chair roles.

    Design Month Photographer

    Are you skilled at capturing moments that tell a story? Join us as a photographer and help us document our Design Month events, initiatives, and community projects. Your lens can immortalize our journey and inspire others. If you have an eye for detail and a passion for photography, we want to hear from you!

    Design Jam Volunteer

    Design Jam is a dynamic five-day collaborative event taking place from October 1st to 5th, where participants form groups, select a theme, and create a project together. At the end of the event, teams will present their innovative ideas to a panel of experienced mentors who will provide valuable feedback on their projects.

    We are currently seeking enthusiastic organizers and dedicated volunteers to help make Design Jam a success. Organizing and planning starts now, so if you have a passion for creativity and collaboration, join us in bringing this exciting event to life!
