dMob (or Design Mob) Events

dMob is a free social event launched by AIGA Portland in 2003. Hosted on the 2nd Wednesday of every month, it’s a great way to get out and connect with members of Portland’s energetic design community while exploring the city’s various neighborhoods.

What goes on at dMob?

When you arrive, you’ll get a sticker to wear. Venture forth, find another sticker-wearer and introduce yourself or offer to buy them a drink. It’s a great way to break the ice and meet new people.

AIGA Portland wants to encourage discussion, business development, and foster a more dynamic design community in Portland. Here amongst this friendly, laid-back group of design professionals, you’re bound to find inspiration, opportunity, friendship or, at the very least, some really great places!

Where is dMob?

dMob is hosted by a different Portland venue every month (typically a bar, patio, or restaurant). Locations are selected by rotating between Portland’s various neighborhoods, making it more interesting and easily accessible to anyone.

2023 Schedule

  • January 11 from 6-8pm; We’ll be meeting at Wonderwood Springs: Connect with members of Portland’s energetic design community and meet the legendary Mike Bennett! We hope to see you at our first dMob of 2023.
  • February 8 from 6-8pm; Holy Ghost Bar: Take in the incredible murals by Kyler Martz and Borrowed Times and drink in the refreshing in-house designs served up by Ezra Caraeff. We love a venue that supports PNW artists and slings great design!
  • March 8 from 6-8pm; Nucleus Portland Art Gallery: All ages are welcome to sip on tasty drinks and join this pop-up drawing session with a mystery prompt. Bring drawing materials, sketchbooks, and $ for drinks.
  • April 12 from 6-8pm; Steeplejack Brewing Co.: A stunning 111-year-old church-turned-brewery, restaurant, and coffee house. Get ready to be inspired by the grand stained glass windows and craftsman-era architecture featuring Pacific Northwestern fir and cedar to help us feel right at home.
  • May 10 from 6-8pm; Barrio PDX: This Old World-style Cantina serves a bevy of Latin American food, beverages, and culture to fuel your mind and palate. You’ll also be supporting the non-profit Hacienda Community Development Corporation, which uplifts small businesses and celebrates Latinx and diverse cultures in our city.
  • June 14th from 6-8pm; Little Beast Brewing: Details TBD
  • July 12th from 6-8pm; Ecliptic Brewing: Details TBD
