Join AIGA Portland at Design Week Portland for Blurred Lines, a curated exploration of the future of interaction. Blurred Lines takes on the weighty challenge of interaction – where it’s going and how technology and the design of physical spaces are impacting individual and shared experiences.  A three-day immersive, interactive experience, Blurred Lines features installations by the region’s leading design studios, each creating interactions that incorporate light, sound, images, motion, culture and history. Through these installations we hope to spark experiences that open the door to the frontier of interaction.

Come experience:

IMPRESSION by Wieden+Kennedy

Impression offers a new approach to performing electronic music. 3D sensing technology allows participants to control audio, not by buttons or controllers, but by manipulating its position in space. Source audio and effects are activated by their proximity to the center of the space in front of you. Numbers and traditional music logic are replaced with intuitive visual indicators, resulting in a new, portable way to perform.

PIXEE AND DIXEE by Intel

PIXEE (pictures, interaction and emotional expression) and DIXEE (dual interaction extensions) is a highly interactive system that encourages emotional expression in image-based social media. By integrating Instagram, Twitter, and live event content streams into one cohesive system, PIXEE and DIXEE emphasize the social aspect of social media by building a collaborative exploration of event-related social media through both touch and full body interactions.

THE PARLOR by Fashionbuddha

The Parlor poses the questions: What would a digital tattoo parlor look like? And how can technology enhance the experience of choosing and customizing the perfect tattoo? Pushing this powerful medium of self-expression to new heights, The Parlor offers a glimpse into the future while staying true to tattoo culture and tradecraft. Featuring artwork by Yellena James, Evan B. Harris, Gala Bent and Nathan Jurevicius.

#Portland #NoFilter by Postano

#Portland #NoFilter explores the idea that social media content is the new television, and mobile phones are the new remotes. Portland-themed social media posts are displayed on a dynamic wall of multiple screens. Content can be contributed in real-time with hashtagged social media posts or changed on the fly using the downloadable mobile app.

URVAN, INC. by Citizen, Inc.

Welcome to Urvan, Inc. While you wait to consult with one of our representatives, feel free to explore our interactive catalog. Religious leaders and philosophers have offered us many possibilities for understanding our souls, but no one knew what was true. Because we have matured, we have been given the gift of the digital soul, the technology to capture the full complexity of each unique human being. Join us and invest in the eternal life of your soul.

REALITY REMIX by Downstream

Reality Remix offers varying views of reality that are distorted, remixed and set to music. The result is a non-traditional interactive experience—in effect an experiential equalizer—that constantly reacts to the people, ambiance, mood and music in the event space.

TOUCH TUNNEL by ADX/Interhacktive

Touch Tunnel explores the boundaries of what we consider a computer interface. A collaboration between Interhacktive and ADX, this touch-sensitive tunnel of white stretchy fabric uses a reaction diffusion shader to project map visuals on its surface. Every touch triggers the fabric of the walls, which mimic the growth of coral, ice crystals, and other patterns found in nature. Touch Tunnel changes and reforms each night, creating a new mood with each interplay of physical and imaginative space.
