Digital Dialogues | Second Story

Second Story Logo

Creating a large scale experiential project to explore diversity and culture is no easy deal. When Second Story got the call, they stepped into one of the most exciting projects around. In partnership with California State Parks, the Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation (AIISF) wanted to create a brand new exhibition in the restored Public Health Service Hospital at the U.S. Immigration Station at Angel Island State Park. This new program — known as the Pacific Coast Immigration Center — would be “a lens through which broad contemporary issues of immigration, diversity, and class conflict can be examined with historical perspective… for personalizing and humanizing the complicated intersections of race, immigration, and American identity.”

Was Second Story up to the challenge? You bet. Fortunately for us, we’re catching them at the Concept Phase of the project – that means, while usually we check in with projects when they’re done, this time we get to go smack dab into the middle of the Second Story creative process. We’ll look at the assets they’re creating and the ideas they’re developing as the project starts to take shape and foundation. This phase makes for one of the most exciting moments, as the ideas and the solutions are still in flux. In partnership with SEGD Portland, AIGA invites you to join us for a special glimpse into this inspiring project taking shape for the very first time.
