What does it mean to be a strong designer? Is it creativity or technical skills? An understanding of typography and visual acuity? Or is it playfulness and the ability to illustrate? What parts are necessary to build your own professional track?
This June, AIGA Portland hosts THE MIX, a curated portfolio review connecting selected applicants with creative industry leaders from companies such as Nike, W+K, Sorel, RG/A, Instrument, and Sandstrom Partners. Our intent is to create design relationships between two distinct spectrums—entry-level and established. Through round-table discussions and chances to meet and greet, participants will make connections and gain the needed insight to become strong professionals.
For those applicants selected, round-table discussions will provide honest, constructive feedback from experienced pros while connecting you with fellow design peers. Participants will also have the chance to see other designers’ portfolios while getting feedback on their own. The conversations are similar to an entry-level interview, all with the purpose of providing an authentic dialogue and understanding of what design agencies are looking for in recent graduates. So join us at #aigaTHEMIX!
